Copyright & DMCA Policy
Last updated: April 24, 2026
bigcut operates a copyright response process for unauthorized uploads, internal rights disputes, and DMCA notices. This page explains how to send a notice, how we may respond, and how we handle counter-notices and repeat infringement.
When to use this process
- Send a notice if you believe a user uploaded or processed audio without proper authority.
- Use this process for copyright or authorization disputes involving material processed through the Service.
- Do not use this process for ordinary customer support or billing requests.
What a valid notice should include
- Your name and contact information.
- Identification of the copyrighted work or authorized material at issue.
- Identification of the account, upload, or activity you want us to review, with enough detail for us to locate it.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, where applicable, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
How we may respond
- We may suspend access, block uploads, disable user access, request proof of rights, or preserve minimum records for dispute handling.
- We may notify the affected user where applicable law or process requires it.
- We may keep minimum records needed for security, dispute handling, repeat-infringer enforcement, and legal claims defense.
Counter-notices
- If your access is disabled because of a copyright notice, you may send a counter-notice where applicable law permits.
- A counter-notice should identify the disabled material or account, include your contact information, include the statements required by applicable law, and bear your physical or electronic signature.
- If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore access if the original claimant does not notify us of a filed court action within the period required by applicable law.
Repeat infringement
- We may suspend or terminate repeat infringers.
- Repeat-infringer review may consider prior notices, rights-verification failures, chargeback abuse, and related account or device history where permitted by law.
Evidence preservation and legal hold
- Account closure does not guarantee immediate deletion or minimization of retained records if a copyright notice, abuse review, chargeback, or legal claim is active.
- We may retain minimum account, access, billing, consent, and case-management records while a dispute or legal hold remains open.
